Boat Rental Rules and Policies:
HOURS: 9:00AM - 6:00PM Pontoons are picked up and dropped off at JACK’S Mullett Lake Marina. You may arrive at any time, but the daily rate and times remain the same. Plan 20-30 minutes to check in, board and go through boat orientation. A LATE FEE will be charged to your credit card at a rate of $25 per quarter hour for unnecessary lateness.
RESERVATIONS: Reservations are strongly recommended.
- Online bookings are available and paid in full at the time of the reservation. We accept Visa, MC, Amex and Discover credit cards for online bookings.
- Walk-in traffic and phone requests for reservations are available and will be accommodated based on availability. Cash and credit cards accepted.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Full refund is available if cancellation notice is given at least (2) weeks prior to reservation. $125 per each day of rental is non-refundable if cancellation is less than 2 weeks prior to the rental date unless we rent the boat. Cancellation the day of the reservation will result in no refund.
- If you must cancel for any reason, we strongly recommend a phone call, whereby we will respond with an email confirmation. This will be proof of cancellation. Contact us if you do not receive the email.
- Please provide as much advance notice as possible so we have an opportunity to re-rent the boat.
- You may also reschedule the reservation without additional fees, if boats are available.
- Keep in mind credit cards may take 5-10 days to process a refund. We have no control over this.
- We reserve the right to cancel you reservation for violation of our policies.
- We reserve the right to cancel your reservation if we feel the renter is not capable, mature or comfortable to operate our boats.
SECURITY DEPOSIT: A credit card will remain on file until the boat is checked in. Any damages or lost items will be charged at that time.
RESPONSIBILITY: The signer of the rental agreement must be 23 years of age with a valid Driver’s License. Signer assumes full responsibility and liability for the boat, all passengers, all equipment and the safe operation of the boat. Renters are responsible for all damages that occur during the rental period. If you choose an insurance rider, please check with your homeowners, auto, or credit card company for options available to you. Damages are rare if you follow the rules. Damaged propellers and boat items that aren’t returned are the most common additional charges to renters.
- The Renter agrees not to use the boat for any unlawful purpose, operate in a careless or negligent manner, or while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
- No smoking on the boat.
- The Renter will abide by the maximum load capacity and number of persons stated on the capacity plate.
- No wake within 100 yards of the Marina and in the Cheboygan and Indian Rivers.
- Stay 100 feet away from docks, fellow boaters and swimmers.
- Do not dock or beach boats on sand shores as they are not public property.
- The renter agrees not to take the boats into Lake Michigan or Lake Huron.
- Additional driver must be present and provide a valid Driver's License, be 23 years of age and sign the contract assuming the same responsibilities as the primary renter.
PET POLICY: We do NOT allow any pets aboard our vessels, with the exception of Certified Service Animals. If we find evidence that a pet has been on board, a minimum cleaning fee of $150 will be charged, and additional fees for damages as a result of the animal.
WEATHER: We cannot be responsible for the weather, but will not put boaters out in unsafe conditions. Obvious cancellations include all day thunder, lightning and rainstorms.
- We reserve the right, at our discretion, to reschedule and /or cancel your reservation in the event of inclement weather. Full refund if cancelled.
- Multiple day rentals do not get refunds or additional days added on because of lost days due to weather.
The Renter should keep the following in mind regarding Northern Michigan weather:
- DO NOT rely on weather forecasts. Many days with predicted rain in Northern Michigan turn out to be gorgeous days on the water.
- If the morning of the rental looks uncertain, we will not cancel or make changes to the reservation until we deem conditions unsafe. Cool, breezy, or a brief rain cloud or isolated shower are not considered unsafe. Mullett Lake is huge and weather conditions vary. While some areas may be windy and rough, other areas can be calm and beautiful. We will gladly show you how to navigate the lake and rivers to offer best places to go if weather conditions require such.
- Dress for the weather. Pack a sweatshirt, windbreaker or blanket just in case.
SUBSTITUTIONS: Although rare, it is inevitable that a reserved boat could be unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances (i.e. repairs etc.) at the time of your reservation. We reserve the right to offer you substitute equipment of equal or greater value at no extra charge to you. If no alternate is available, we will regretfully have to reschedule or refund your reservation.
GAS: Gas is not included. The boat will have a full tank of gas at the start of the rental. Our staff will refuel the boat at the marina at the end of the rental period and be paid by the renter at that time. If the boat is fueled during the reservation period, Recreational 90 Octane No Ethanol Fuel MUST be used.
Our team at Jack’s Mullett Lake Marina wants you to have an amazing time on the water while renting our boats! If you have any questions or concerns regarding our policies or rules, please feel free to give us a call to discuss them.
